The perfect dress for Valentine’s day
I cant't believe Valentine's day is already next week! Now, don't get me wrong, I don't usually make a huge deal about this holiday, but I do love to celebrate it and get all dolled up, even if we aren't doing much. I prefer to do a more low-key Valentine's day since the day is overly hyped up and everyone jacks up their prices, but this year, Chris and I decided it would be fun to get dressed up and go to a bar / restaurant we've never been to downtown. The irony in that statment, is the place we are going is not fancy at all and that's why we chose it. We thought it would be funny to get over-dressed for a low-key meal in a low-key place. Which brigs me to the inspiration behind this outfit!
Since Valentine's day is just next week, I thought I'd share with you one of my favorite looks that is definitely in the running for the romantic holidays OOTD. When I saw this dress, browsing the web a few weekends ago, it screamed Valentine's day! From the fiery red color, to the romantic lace and sweet silhouette, I knew this would make for the perfect ensemble for the special day. I love how the neckline comes to a V-day but the lining creates a sweet-heart neckline, causing this dress to be very elegant. Not to mention, the beautiful midi-length really takes the delicacy up a notch.
Now I am not much of a red person, I have too much yellows and pinks in my skin tone that I've never thought it worked, so I was skeptical (at first) ordering such a bright red. But once it arrived and tried it on, I didn't want to take it off. It doesn't seem like it from the pictures, but it really is a comfortable dress. Since the bottom half of the dress flares out a bit, you have plenty of room to bust a move (haha). Likewise, this dress makes for a perfect wedding-guest ensemble. The lace gives it a very charming feel without being too over the top.
You don't have to do much for accessories when It comes this dress. There is already so much going on that it truly speaks for itself. I paired this beautiful midi-dress with an open toe red pump to really create a glamorous vibe. I love monochromatic looks and I thought the red shoes would really pop with the red dress and a bright red lip. Wearing nude or black pumps would also keep the elegance alive. With midi-lengths you have to be mindful of the "toe" portion of the shoe. Wearing a rounded toe shoe would make you look shorter and since the length is hitting at a different length, it just wouldn't look right. So try to stick with either a pointed-toe shoe or open-toe.
I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the week!
