Game Night

This past weekend, Chris and I wanted to do something really fun before the summer came to an end. So we decided to invite some of our closest friends over for a game night. As time goes on and life gets to be so crazy, we thought it would be so exciting to relive some of our childhood memories. We had all kinds of snacks to nibble on during the events and tons of different games for us to play. Everyone brought their own drinks, so as the night progressed the games got a little sillier!

As we were planning our game night, I thought to myself how fun would it be to share with you how you can pull-off the perfect evening to be a kid again! I'm sharing all the things you'll need to pull off the perfect evening for you and your friends or family, or mix it up and do it as a date night in with your S/O.

Okay, what sparked the initial idea of a game night was back in June, I threw Chris a birthday party. Originally we were going to go to the drive-in movies with some of his friends, but the rain caused us to change our plans. So we ended up just having everyone over to our house and by the end of the night we were all inside playing Cards Against Humanity, and it was So.Much.Fun! So, after all the great laughs that we are still giggling over today, we thought we should do it again. Summer is all about being care-free, so before the fall hits and life gets too busy, we asked our friends if they would like to do it again, and lucky for us, they all said yes! So here are a few things you'll need to pull off the perfect care-free evening:

1. LOTS OF SNACKS AND DRINKS! I think it goes without saying, as time passes on and the drinks get better, everyone likes something sweet to nibble on. So in the center of the game table, I made this scrumptious cookie-dough dip with animal crackers and pretzels to easily dip. This was a crowd favorite, I had absolutely no leftovers left! (*recipe coming soon) I also made fruity pebble balls! Since it was a game night, we had to include some child-like snacks! All you need to do is grab a box of your favorite cereal (any kind) a stick of butter and a bag of mini marshmallows. Melt the butter and marshmallows, add the cereal and scoop into balls and Voula you made cereal balls! They are a festive and delicious snack that can be easily passed around.

As for the actual food, we all pitched in and got two sheet-pizza's to make sure no one went hungry! And you simply can't have pizza without chicken wings, so I made my favorite chicken wing dip (*recipe also coming soon).

2. A BOUNTIFUL OF GAMES! As it is a "Game-Night" event, you'll need tons of games! We started the evening out by playing Headbands (such a fun game to play with a large group) and then proceeded to move onwards to Cards Against Humanity. However, we made sure to have out lots of board games such as; Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, and more, and a few other card games; Exploding Kittens, What the F*ck, etc. and of course basketball to shoot some hoops.

3. A BEAUTIFUL BONFIRE! Of course, its summer, who doesn't want to see and smell a beautiful bonfire. Nothing crazy or super elaborate but just adds enough ambience to the evening to allow everyone to feel at ease.

4. YOUTHFUL ATTIRE! If planning a game night, you have to think almost like a kid. What were your favorite TV shows growing up? What games did you play as a kid? What are some of your favorite childhood memories? For me, I went right to my favorite TV show. Gilmore Girl's has been one of my favorite shows for as long as I could remember. I've seen every single episode a number of times and even made Chris watch the series with me (more than once, shhh!) So naturally, I thought it would be humorous to have an easy going, casual yet comfortable outfit for the amusing evening.

I recently bought this t-shirt and am in love! Not only because its sporting my fave show, but the comfortability of the t-shirt is unbelievable! Its a soft cotton material, almost like pajama soft, I could live in this shirt forever, if it were possible! I paired this top with a denim skirt to keep that casual, laid-back feel of the evening! This denim skirt is so versatile, it will work with everything! I am so excited to start styling it for fall with boots and scarves, but that will be for another day.

Naturally, summer is coming to an end so that means the evenings are a bit chillier, so I needed something to go over my shoulders and I thought this blush pink blazer worked perfectly against the maroon tee. Its the perfect light-weight summer blazer that fits almost any event you are attending. Simply style it with a skirt or slacks for work, or put over your shoulders with a long maxi for a wedding. There is so much you can do with this blazer, the blush acts as a neutral which is fantastic when rushing out the door.

And last but not least, these sparkly slide loafers are AW-MAZING! I recently saw these on a trip to Target and I knew I had to have them! They are so lively and outgoing, they will match with so many outfits. I will admit, I've worn these almost everyday this week, they are just the perfect staple to have in my closet. Even better news, they will work great with my fall wardrobe and even into the holiday season. (The pair I purchased recently sold out, so I added a few more styles that are similar so you can purchase them for yourself!)

Well, I hope these tips will help you during your next get-together with your pals! Keep an eye out, I am going to be adding some easy recipes to my Food page that are great staples to have while entertaining!

Sarah
