Oh how far we've come! I cannot believe Independence day is next week! It feels like summer is just flying by, and I just want it to slow down. Funny story, I truly have no idea why this is, but July 4th is my favorite holiday (minus Christmas). I've always had a soft-spot for July 4th and I think it stems from all the great memories I have from when I was a child. My little town does a two-day event for the holiday, starting the night before with a "Street Dance". They hire a fun band to play in the middle of the street in front of the town hall, with all kinds of craft vendors, games and tons of food. The next day (July 4th) the vendor tents are up all day with a fun parade and fireworks after dark. It has been a tradition for my family and I to do this every year (except for the years we couldn't make it back when we were living in Boston). Anyways, its always been such a fun holiday to eat hot dogs, dance in the sun and be with friends and family.
This year, I signed Chris and me up for a 10k at 8am on July 4th morning and then after we plan on taking Griff to the parade with our families. Basically the whole town shuts down, all the roads are crossed off for the parade and the street vendors. Then we're going to do a backyard BBQ and end the day walking up to the town hall to see the fireworks. I think we'll be able to see the fireworks from our backyard because we don't live too far from the town hall, but Chris disagrees so we shall see ;) What are your July 4th plans?
Okay - so the items shown above are is a small selection I chose that would be perfect (in my opinion) for the fun holiday! I will most likely be in running gear all day due to the race in the morning, however I did just order the Red, Wine and Blue tank so hopefully that'll make an appearance on July 4th. Don't you just adore that gingham red dress? I am in love! I had to order that dress too, so cute and perfect to wear with sandals for the holiday or even to wear with wedges if you wanted to get a little dressier. Since this holiday is mostly spent in the backyard, BBQing I selected mostly casual stuff, and of course I couldn't leave the little guy out..the adorable Bandana for the pups, I mean how cute, right?!
I hope you all have a spectacular holiday with many fireworks!
